Christmas Hot Chocolate- Day 4

So in my opinion, my 12 Days of Christmas can continue right up until Christmas as long as you have time to make the Christmas treats… right? Well I’m continuing anyway, just try and stop me! I’ve been so busy recently trying to sort out some of my various voluntary work and can now announce that in January I will be heading to Calais to help out at the Jungle, the refugee camp there. It’s estimated that there are now around 6000 migrants living there and I feel it’s my time to go out there and help for a little while. So watch this space, more details to come!

Today however is all about Christmas Hot Chocolate. If you want a little taste of Christmas on a cold evening, look no further. This recipe will warm you right up and take you back to the enjoyment of the Christmas period rather than the crowds, traffic and stress. So whip up a batch and share it out!

Ingredients- recipe makes 2 mugs

400ml milk
6 heaped teaspoons hot chocolate- I used Cadbury’s to match the mug!
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Put your milk on to warm through on a low heat whilst you add the rest of your ingredients. Add the hot chocolate first, then the sugar, ground nutmeg and ground cinnamon.
  2. Once everything is added, give the mixture a good whisk, make sure everything is well incorporated. Leave to warm a little more before adding the vanilla.
  3. Heat until you begin to see little bubbles around the edge of your saucepan, make sure it is all hot but do not boil as this will impair the flavour.
  4. Add a couple of marshmallows, some whipped cream, or both, and enjoy!
